Emergency Pet Care accepts cash, debit cards, Visa, and MasterCard. Payment is ALWAYS due at the time of service. Our exam fee is $95.
There are pet insurance programs available, however (just like with human insurance) they must be in place prior to an illness. Pets are considered private property in the state of Idaho, and therefore no state funds are available for care of injured or sick animals. Financial responsibility is always with the owner. Please don't ask us to make an exception on your part. We don't receive the support of outside funding like an animal shelter or charity. We have bills to pay too, and we are open at all hours of the night to be sure someone is here to see your pet in a time of need. It is not just about the money - we all care about animals or we wouldn't be in the veterinary medical field working these long, hard hours.
Emergency Pet Care has made a commitment to end animal suffering. If your pet is suffering, and you cannot afford treatment and the best alternative is euthanasia, you can present your pet to Emergency Pet Care for a courtesy euthanasia. You will not be billed the standard $95. Disposal of the body will be the owner's responsibility. Please do not abuse this courtesy; schedule routine euthanasia with your regular veterinarian. Emergency Pet Care does reserve the right to refuse service to anybody.
Also, if you find an injured pet, and present it to the emergency clinic, you are accepting financial responsibility for that pet. Every attempt to find the owner will be made, but ultimately the person presenting the pet will be obligated to pay for medical care. For clarity in these matters, please consult with your local Law Enforcement Agency or an Animal Control Officer. Emergency Pet Care will not debate financial obligations.
